Department overview

The Department of International Studies (English and Chinese) aims to educate students to cope with the global situation and adapt to the international situation in keeping with the changes of the times. For this purpose, this department enables students to acquire necessary knowledge in various fields such as politics, economy, society and culture of the U.K., U.S., and China based on the basic education on the languages of those countries, and promotes their understanding of international issues, and educates them to acquire a vision of the world. When students enter the Department of International Studies, students can take English or Chinese language course or both courses at the same time, depending on students’ choice. The outline of each process is as follows.

English language course

The English course of the Department of International Studies aims to educate people of talent who have English communication skills and practical skills necessary for acquiring and transferring the information in the era of globalization, and knowledge and information. In response to the needs of the era of globalization and information, English courses provide practical and specialized subjects that cover the English literature area (practical English, English for interpretation and translation), English education area (TOSOL, English for children), and international culture specialist area (global business English, film/scenario translation).

Chinese language course

With the rapid rise of China in the global community and the increase of trade exchanges between Korea and China, the demand for Chinese language experts is increasing greatly. In order to meet the demand, the Chinese course of the Department of International Studies aims to educate Chinese language experts who have both theoretical and practical skills based on fluent command of the Chinese language. To this end, this course provides practical and specialized courses in an integrated manner so that students can learn diverse and high-level knowledge of the Chinese language and various areas in China such as the economy, politics, and society.

Characteristics of the department

English language course

  • Free English phone class service by the native speaker professor
  • English camp and EZ (English Zone) English club activities
  • Credit exchange with overseas universities (National American University, Griffith University in Australia)
  • Credit exchange with Sejong University and campus sharing including the library
  • Paying 30% of the tuition fee if the student enters Sejong University Graduate School
  • English translator certificate, film/scenario translator certificate, TESOL completion certificate, and education expert certificate of English for children

Chinese language course

  • Free Chinese phone class service by the native speaker professor, and offline special lectures
  • Chinese cultural tour and volunteer activities at home and abroad
  • Credit exchange with overseas universities using the registration fee paid to the school (Central China Normal University in China)
  • Credit exchange with Sejong University and campus sharing including the library
  • Paying 30% of the tuition fee if the student enters Sejong University Graduate School
  • Completion certificate of the Chinese translator, Chinese instructor for children
