Department overview

Department of Food Service Planning & Franchise Management was opened in 2005 as the first department in Korea that enables students to study restaurant opening, restaurant management, and franchise. Since then, many talented students enrolled the department as the department has been introduced as a specialized department through various media, and became a promising department that educates the talented student required in the industry at the same time. This department is the only one in Korea that enables students to learn the key areas of the restaurant industry in an integrated manner - restaurant opening, restaurant management, and franchise, while completing the specialized track of "restaurant opening management track" and "franchise management track". Also, more than 25% of the graduates of this department have enrolled master's programs in graduate school. Knowledge development for the development of the academic circle and industry become their goal, instead of simple knowledge acquisition in the field. Students will be educated to be talented persons who can act as a bridgehead for the overseas advancement of domestic food service companies by learning and developing the advanced systems and management skills of global food service companies and franchise companies.

    As the first opening department in the four-year college, the department fosters talented students who will lead the Korean restaurant business and the franchise industry in the future.

  • Exploring advanced entrepreneurial items through overseas study every semester, and visit to businesses.

    The overseas study is implemented more than 1 time a year in Japan, China, Thailand, and Taiwan and more than once a year, which provides opportunities to expand the knowledge of the overseas food service industry and the advanced franchise industry.

  • Various networking between alumni and students

    Students can learn expert knowledge about foundation and management, not to mention of systematic experience, through various on-line and off-line club activities.

  • Supporting club activities actively

    Excellent specialists in various areas, who are working at the restaurant and franchises company, are studying now or have graduated. And, various human networking is established through online/offline meetings with students on a regular basis.

  • Active support for graduate school entrance

    The department has shown the highest graduate school entrance rate as 25% of the graduate entered well-known graduate schools every year, such as Sejong University (franchise master’s program, tourism graduate school, management graduate school, industry graduate school), Yonsei University, Korea University, and Chung-Ang University. If the student enters Sejong University Graduate School, the student can get a scholarship by recommendation and get a master's degree.

  • Supporting certificate acquisition actively

    The department is actively supporting the acquisition of certificates, such as affiliated companies, barista, sommelier, etc.
