  • The Department of Fire and Disaster Prevention establishes theories in the firefighting and disaster prevention area and nurtures firefighting and safety specialists and outstanding firefighters who can prevent various disasters, and guide, manage, and inspect safety.
  • As the benefits of special recruitment of firefighting officers are given to the students, students can fulfill national responsibilities as general firefighters or senior firefighters or can get a job at the safety management department of the firefighting-related companies or general companies, which increases the employment rate of this department a lot.

Department Characteristics

  • Operating the best curriculum in Korea in the field of firefighting and disaster prevention.

    Providing theoretical and practical knowledge and operating the curriculum linked to the fire fighting and disaster prevention industry. The department is operated in such a way that students can be employed after graduation by operating special intensive classes to obtain various certificates such as the fire-fighting facility manager, fire-fighting trainer, and fire-fighting engineer.

  • Students can receive the degree from other departments after graduation by applying for a double major.

    Students can receive two B.A. degrees at the same time by applying for a double major in other departments including the Department of Fire-fighting and Disaster Prevention. Freshmen can apply for a double major after earning 35 credits (average GPA of 3.0 or higher). Students transferring to sophomore and junior can apply for a double major after taking one semester (average GPA of 3.0 or higher).

  • Establishing a system linked with graduate school entrance for M.A. and Ph.D. degree acquisition at home and abroad at the department level.

    Supporting entrance to the excellent graduate schools related to fire prevention and disaster prevention at home and abroad at the department level, and students are exempted from the entrance fee and 30% tuition fee reduction as a scholarship every semester, if students enter a master/doctoral program at Graduate School of Public Policy, Sejong University.

  • Inviting the best firefighting and disaster prevention specialist for special lectures, and supporting club activities actively and networking.

    Inviting domestic firefighting disaster specialists and firefighting industry CEO for special lectures once or twice a month, to provide the vivid and up-to-date practical information (only department in Korea); visiting advanced firefighting and disaster prevention industry at home and abroad and supporting various clubs (mounting climbing, camping, cycle) including Sejong Firefighting Hanmaum Club; and building a rich human network with students from diverse occupations.

  • Students can experience the academic atmosphere of offline university life at the same time, as students can taking classes at Sejong University by exchanging credits, and using the campus, library, classroom, auditorium, playground, and gymnasium.
